Why Swim With A Group

"For us, coaching is a passion.  Our fulfillment comes from seeing your success."
- Scott Mairose, Coach and Co-Founder of Lake Gators

We often hear "I will join when I am in better shape", and all too often, that doesn't happen.  When you join a team like like Lake Gators, it increases your motivation.  You try harder in practice when you can, and on days you can't, you adjust.

You make friends that help you reach your goals and motivate you.  When you swim alone, it's easy to back off.

We also hear "but I don't know any other strokes than freestyle".  That's OK to.  You adjust the set and you can slowly learn.  We have some drills that you can do in place of butterfly, and they will make you a stronger swimmer.  We see swimmers that never swam butterfly begin to try it and with time, they get better.  They feel a sense of accomplishment.

If you are a former competitive swimmer that is out of shape, no worries.  You don't have to jump back in and expect to swim at a high level.  Build back up.    If you are still in swim shape, we have challenging lanes for you.

For triathletes, our goal is to help you get faster with less effort.  This is accomplished by improving your technique and with interval training.  Training the same sets and the same distances, or just getting in "yards" will only take you so far.

We look forward to seeing you!

About Our Coaches

Each coach brings a wealth of knowledge and skill sets.  Coach Scott was a National Age Group record holder, member of the Swim Atlanta team that won JR Nationals, and swam for UGA until a shoulder injury ended competitive swimming. Coach Cindi caught the bug in her 40's and swims in many open water and pool competitions.  She is our lead ALTS instructor.  Coach Stephen comes from a fitness background and is our Triathlete expert...

Competitions

You can choose to compete in USMS swim meets, but it is not required.  We have had members win Nationals for their age group as well as winning the coveted Gold medal at Lucky's Golden Mile Lake Swim. Some swim in open water competitions or focus on triathlons.
